Compliance Glossary for Confluence

Can I add CAD files?

Yes, as metadata-only evidence. Production v6 accepts allow-listed DWG, DXF, STEP, STP, STL, IGES, and IGS files when extension and MIME type match. It records the file hash, revision, provenance, format metadata, retention, and declared candidate links. It does not interpret geometry, design intent, or CAD semantics.

How it works

  1. Open Upload controlled evidence.
  2. Select a supported CAD file.
  3. Add approved retention settings.
  4. Add declared links only when their targets are known.
  5. Select Upload evidence.
  6. Review the metadata-only status and candidate-link count.

Example

A STEP file is uploaded for a controlled design record. The app records its SHA-256 value, byte length, format, provenance, retention, and one declared candidate link to a requirement. Engineering review still occurs in the CAD and quality systems.

What this does not mean

Compliance Glossary does not open native CAD models, inspect geometry, compare assemblies, validate tolerances, or infer design meaning. CAD links remain candidates until governed elsewhere.

Next step

Use CAD upload only when metadata-level evidence meets the control need.
